Si bien puede parecer que cerrar las tarjetas de crédito que no se utilizan ayudaría a su puntaje crediticio y, a su vez, tendría un impacto positivo en su solicitud de hipoteca, en realidad puede perjudicarlo.
¿Por qué? ❓❓
Porque cuando cierras una tarjeta de crédito pueden pasar dos cosas:
✅ Ya no tendrá el límite de crédito de esa tarjeta sin usar, por lo que su límite de crédito disminuirá, lo que puede causar que su índice de utilización aumente dependiendo de la cantidad de deuda pendiente que tenga, lo que puede reducir su puntaje de crédito.
✅ Si la tarjeta que está cerrando es una tarjeta de crédito antigua, esto puede afectar la duración de su historial crediticio, lo que también puede afectar su puntaje crediticio.

Although it might seem as though closing unused credit cards would help your credit score and, in turn, be a positive impact on your mortgage application, it can actually hurt you.
Why? ❓❓
Because when you close a credit card two things can happen:
✅ You won’t have the credit limit from that unused card anymore, so your credit limit will decrease, which may cause your utilization ratio to increase depending on how much outstanding debt you have, which can lower your credit score.
✅ If the card you’re closing is an old credit card, this can affect the length of your credit history, which can also impact your credit score.
