Flying home from a work trip. Because of a technical glitch, flight around the world were at a standstill for hours. In the airports, All of the restaurants in the airport are completely swamped. There are lines at every restaurant, bar, and even lines at all of the airline “clubs” with people trying to find a place to wait out the delays. People all over the airport are sharing tables and talking with strangers just so they can have a seat and get something to eat and drink.
I had a couple of drinks with a guy who programs the robots at Toyota factories and flies around the world working in their manufacturing plants. Then had to move because my gate changed, so I ended up sharing a table and having dinner with a guy who works for the FAA and writes policy in Washington DC! It’s amazing where life takes you if you slow down and pay attention to the world around you.
Always remember that the journey you are on is ALSO part of the destination. Pay attention to the world around you, and purposefully make an impact on everyone that you meet.
