At this month's Pensacola Association of Realtors® luncheon, local journalist and community leader Rick Outzen shared the remarkable story of Pensacola's evolution over the past two decades—from economic challenges, Hurricane Ivan, and uncertainty to the vibrant downtown, growing economy, and renewed sense of community we see today.
One message stood out: progress doesn't happen by accident. It happens when people step up, work together, invest in their community, and develop the next generation of leaders.
Rick highlighted the power of public-private partnerships, civic engagement, young professionals, and bold leadership in helping shape Pensacola's future. His insights sparked thoughtful discussion about growth, economic development, property taxes, Triumph Gulf Coast, and what lies ahead for Escambia County.

Today was a reminder that affordable homeownership works best when nonprofits, local businesses, and real estate professionals work together instead of separately.

Really impressed with the direction Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is taking — not just building houses, but creating a real path to sustainable homeownership and long-term stability for local families.
