Nine tiny homes just opened in Pensacola for senior men who had nowhere else to go. 🏠

The Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee built Trinity Village on a stretch of vacant land right across the street from its own offices, using Florida's "Yes-in-God's-Backyard" (YIGBY) policy that lets religious institutions build affordable housing on their own land regardless of normal zoning rules. Ground broke in fall 2024, and the grand opening came on May 1, 2026, with the first tenants moving in by the end of that month.

Rent runs $500 a month, covering both rent and utilities, for low-income senior men 62 and older facing housing insecurity. Deacon Ray Aguado, who spearheaded the project and now serves as Executive Director of Trinity House LLC, said, "Our vision was to provide affordable housing to low-income seniors facing housing insecurity." Bishop William Wack, Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves, and Police Chief Eric Winstrom all turned out for the opening, and a version for women is already in the works. 🙏

Pretty houses are easy to find on the internet.

But a home that actually feels like you? That’s different. 🤎

The older I get, the more I appreciate homes that are lived in. The good candle burning. Something cooking in the kitchen. Kids coming in and out. People gathered around the table. A blanket that never stays folded quite right. 😂

Because home isn’t supposed to look like nobody lives there.

Whether you’re buying your first home, looking for more room, downsizing, or just making the place you’re already in feel a little more like yours, the goal isn’t perfection.

It’s creating a life you actually want to come home to.

And THAT will always be my favorite part of real estate. 🏡

🎶 Allow me to reintroduce myself…

Hey friends… and hey new friends! 👋🏾

There are some new faces around here, and it’s been a minute since I’ve properly introduced myself.

I’m Denequa 🥰

I’ve been married to JC for 18 years, we have three kiddos and a few fur babies, and I’m a cheer and basketball mom. Which means my calendar is calendaring. And because I’m me, I’ve probably already calculated how long it’ll take us to get there, where we’re parking, and what time we actually need to leave. 😂

I retired from the U.S Navy after 20½ years. I have a bachelor’s in Business Management and a master’s in Organizational Leadership, which probably explains at least some of the way my brain works.

My faith is a huge part of my life. Not because I’m perfect or have everything figured out; I just love my Savior, who is.

I love people. I love gathering people. I love cooking and baking for them, opening my home, sitting around a table, laughing, talking, and creating the kind of moments people remember.

And I LOVE to travel. ✈️
The planning. The food. The exploring. Seeing somewhere I’ve never seen before. But packing? I hate it.
Unpacking? Somehow worse. 😂

I’m also fairly private.

You’ll see pieces of my life here, but you won’t see all of it. I have no desire to turn my entire life into content just because I love real estate. Some things get to just be mine.

But private doesn’t mean unapproachable.

So yes, we’ll talk real estate here. We’ll also talk about Northwest Florida, home, community, good food, places worth going, and occasionally whatever else is happening in my corner of the world.

Life has a way of making us feel like every setback is permanent. It isn’t.

Can’t buy the house today because your credit needs some work? Okay. Let’s make a plan.

Found the perfect home but don’t want to go into debt furnishing it? That’s okay too. Facebook Marketplace, estate sales, hand-me-downs… homes become beautiful over time.

The goal isn’t to have everything figured out today. The goal is to keep moving forward.

Whatever you’re facing, don’t confuse “not yet” with “never.”

Stay encouraged. One good decision at a time still gets you where you’re meant to be. 🩷🏡
