No underground bunker required. No 47 cases of canned beans. And probably no need to start building a moat around your house.

But having a few basics ready **before** you need them? That’s just smart homeownership.

✔️ Know where your water, gas & electric shutoffs are
✔️ Keep flashlights, batteries, water & first-aid supplies on hand
✔️ Test your smoke & carbon monoxide alarms
✔️ Save important documents and insurance information
✔️ Have emergency contacts and evacuation plans ready
✔️ Don’t forget the pets!

National Preparedness Month is a great reminder that emergencies rarely give us much notice. A little preparation now can make a BIG difference later.

So go ahead. Check the batteries. Find the shutoff valve. Stock the first-aid kit.
