The museum is one of Toledo’s standout attractions, featuring hundreds of maritime artifacts, interactive exhibits, historic ships, and incredible stories about the Great Lakes that helped shape America’s growth and industry. Sitting right on the riverfront, it’s one of those places that reminds you how much history is right here in our backyard.

🎨 Did you know Ohio is full of incredible community murals?

From small towns to big cities, murals across the state celebrate local history, culture, and creativity. Ohio even launched the “Murals Across Ohio” initiative to highlight these public artworks and encourage people to explore them.

Right here in Northwest Ohio, public art is growing quickly. In fact, there are dozens of murals within about 25 miles of Toledo, with even more planned as part of a regional effort to create up to 100 public art installations across Lucas County.

Next time you’re out exploring Ohio, keep an eye on the walls, silos, and buildings around you—you might discover an amazing piece of art that tells a story about the community.

Serving one of the neighborhoods in Sylvania, Ohio, it’s exciting to see continued reinvestment in our downtown—and how beneficial this will be for our community and home values.

Phase 2 of the Downtown Sylvania improvements begins as early as July 1, extending the beautiful Main Street look from Maplewood Avenue to Erie Street. This phase brings major upgrades to roads, sidewalks, and park spaces—creating a more walkable, welcoming, and connected downtown experience.

Projects like this do more than improve appearances. They strengthen local businesses, attract new visitors, and continue positioning Sylvania as an even more desirable place to live, invest, and raise a family.

Best of all, downtown businesses will remain open throughout construction, making it easy to continue supporting local shops and restaurants.

Hirzel Canning has been part of Ohio’s farming story for generations — started by a Swiss immigrant in the 1920s and still processing locally grown produce here in Pemberville today.
