There’s something about a garden this time of year.

A little color, a little wildness, something ripening on the vine, and something else already beginning to fade. Flowers open, vegetables mature, fruit takes on its color, and the landscape keeps changing.

It’s one of the things I enjoy most about living in and exploring our local communities. The character of a place isn’t always found in the obvious details. Sometimes it’s a flower growing along a fence, a persimmon tree heavy with fruit, or a garden quietly changing with the season.

You never quite know what you’ll find on the Petaluma River.

A day on the water with the same crew turned into a little exploration of the river, its history, its wildlife, and a few very convincing Kraken sightings.
There’s something about being on the water that makes you slow down and look a little closer.

Good people. Curious minds. A beautiful piece of Sonoma County.

Real estate is what I do. But it’s not all I do.

Outside the listings, the contracts, and the conversations about buying and selling homes, there’s a whole lot of life happening.

There are crab pots in Tomales Bay.
Unexpected adventures at Universal Studios.
Sunsets at Yorkville Ranch.
Fishing trips along the California coast.
Exploring historic places like Bodie.
Boats leaving the harbor before sunrise.
And those moments when you realize the best memories usually aren’t planned.

For me, real estate has always been about more than property. It’s about the places we choose to live, the experiences we create there, and having a life worth coming home to.

Some homes catch your eye because they’re beautiful. Others make you stop and wonder about the story behind them.

That’s what I love about architecture and real estate.

From the Folk Victorian details of Fiddletown to the Queen Anne character of Nevada City and Petaluma, the Spanish Colonial Revival style of Palo Alto, and the Mid-Century Modern lines of Boonville, every place has its own architectural language.

These homes aren’t just old buildings. They’re pieces of California history that reflect the people, craftsmanship, and communities that came before us.

And that’s one of the things I enjoy most about being a real estate guide looking beyond the listing, noticing the details, and understanding what makes a neighborhood feel like itself.

Funny thing about house hunting is that everyone shows up looking for square footage and a good kitchen. But the stuff that actually makes someone fall in love with a place? It's rarely the house alone.

It's the street you'll walk your dog on.
It's the neighbor who already waved at you during the showing.
It's picturing your own life happening there, not just moving in, but living.
