You can learn or be trained on traits to enhance your career however having natural born charisma is a tough trait to acquire. I have known Mike for years and he most definitely was blessed with a natural charisma that must translate positively to all facets of his life.

I’ve worked for leaders who truly believed in work–life balance, and for others who micromanaged and treated work as life’s only priority. Looking back, my productivity was consistently higher in roles where my boss trusted me and cared about burnout. Those environments far outperformed the jobs where someone was constantly over my shoulder, timing breaks and managing by control instead of trust.

"Gets it, wants it, can do it." I don't know if there is a better way to look at a potential candidate that is interviewing regardless of the industry.

As an individual who has been involved in some aspect of sales essentially my entire life I've had companies that believe and support me and companies who think you are just a number. When a company like Golden State Lumber has your back in your best and most challenging times the confidence and production it yields is unmatched.

One surprise and beneficial aspect of doing these podcasts is how open and honest my guests have been about truly personal subject matter. Sobriety, therapy, and the constant effort of self improvement. It is inspiring to say the least and opens the door to all the listeners to look inward and ask themselves if there is a way they can optimize their lives and if they need guidance on the path to becoming a better human. This is Jerre talking about his decision to live a sober life and the positive elements that have accompanied that decision.

The Ward Report #15. At the end of the day for a Salesperson the numbers don't lie. If you put in the work it translates on paper, if you don't you better change something quickly. What stands out to me in this clip is the honesty of Jerre sharing how his activities outside of his work day had a dramatic effect on his workday. Sometimes it's not just the hours we work that affect our day to day performance.

The evolution of success is constantly morphing for all of us. Ryan has a great take on success through a balance of something he calls his "wealth wheel." At first money is a huge driver for all of us but soon most adults realize that time and health quickly overtakes finances in terms of how happy we can become as we age.

It might not be what you envisioned but it's the right fit for where you are in the present moment. Wise words from a man who sees constant change on a daily basis. I also loved how Ryan threw in "ask the right questions" at the end of this clip. I don't know if there is a more important idea in business than being engaged in your present goal and asking the right questions to the people around you that have more experience than you do on what you are seeking to do.

The Ward Report #14, Cold to Gold with Ryan Burk. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ryan Burk, owner of WFS Group, a sales consulting firm that helps businesses turn cold traffic into high-paying, loyal customers. Ryan is a decorated entrepreneur who brings a unique, balanced approach to business, family, and personal growth. This was a fantastic conversation packed with insight, motivation, and practical advice that anyone, no matter their career path, can take something valuable from. Now available on Spotify and Apple!

No one goes on the coaching journey alone and if you are lucky you lock in with a mentor and coach that stays with you for a large chunk of your career. Coincidentally one of Coach Trents mentors happened to be a man that has been in my life since I was a kid. There is only one Larry "The Legend" Gondola, a man who did it his way and whose passion for the game and commitment to his teams lead to one of the most storied careers in Marin County Football history. It was great to hear and see the respect in Coach Trents eyes when he spoke about Larry, a respect I vehemently share.
