Celebrating our Nation's Heroes...

As we approach the annual Veterans Parade, I wanted to take a moment and introduce you to retired USAF Major Lee Johnson, a Vietnam War veteran who was my late fathers dearest friend. Lee served as a pilot in the USAF for more than two decades! Lee holds a special place in my heart for my father, Fred Holderman, who, like Lee, dedicated over 20 years of his life to the Air Force. Their friendship blossomed in the early 1960's when they first crossed paths, its worth noting that my Dad served as a navigator and weapons system officer on a B66 Destroyer.

Lee is now 95 years young and I was able to spend time with him this week and reconnect. It was truly heartwarming to witness with vivid recollections as he shared stories about my father and their military days. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Lee continued to contribute to a noble cause, flying planes for Doctors with Borders. Many of these flights took medical professionals to Mexico to provide care to children born with cleft palates.

Lee was an avid skier until the age of 87! His wit came out when he mentioned he ultimately decided to give it up because the journey from the parking lot to the ski list while carrying skis and walking in ski boots had become challenging. Spending time with Lee was a strong reminder of the challenges of war and how so many have sacrificed for what we have today. My brother, Mark also proudly served as a Major in the USAF for more than 15 years, focusing on civil engineering. Additionally, my niece, Sarah, currently holds the rank of Captain in the Army Reserves. She achieved her nursing degree at UCSB through the ROTC program.

Tomorrow, during the Petaluma Veterans Parade, I will take a special moment to honor my family, Lee and the past and present Vets for their sacrifice and courage to keep our nation safe. I thank you all for your service.

This coastal home in Sea Ranch has held many cherished memories for my brother and his partner over the years.

After much thought and consideration, they made the decision to sell their amazing home that has been a place of relaxation and laughter. While it's bittersweet to let go of a place that means so much to them it's the right time for their next chapter.

Family has always been at the center of their lives, and this move will allow them to be closer to their kids and grandkids and to create more lasting memories with them. I'm so excited for them and the rest of the family! Glad to be a part of what makes their dream come true!
