Here are some updates regarding the short term rental ordinance efforts for the city of Santa Rosa

In this link they also included the responses that people sent in from a survey that the city ran back in August.

Also, the City is moving forward with the development of an urgency ordinance which will be presented to City Council for consideration and potential adoption on October 12, 2021. The proposed short-term rental urgency ordinance will include a permit requirement and policies relating to occupancy limits, parking requirements, noise, and life-safety

Also included is a replay of the zoom meeting that was held on 9/29.

The City of Santa Rosa is considering an ordinance to better regulate rentals, where people stay for 30 days or fewer.

Here’s some new news about Denver requiring landlords to get licenses and to get building inspections done.

It will probably come to CA at some point also.

Denver is changing its laws and requiring landlords to get a license to rent out properties. Will this trend stretch into other markets?

Call/ email the board of supervisors today!

Here is an email that I got today saying that the sups are planning on limiting the amount of vacation rentals permits in Sonoma County.

Dear Vrbo Partner,

Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18 at 2:00 PM PDT, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is meeting to consider capping vacation rental licenses at their current levels. At a time when the affordable and safe accommodations that vacation rentals provide to traveling families is needed most, this is a step in the wrong direction for Sonoma County.

While this may not impact you immediately, we encourage you to contact the Board and let them know why your vacation rentals are a vital part of a safe, healthy tourism recovery and an important part of your household economy as well. Below are three ways to make your voice heard:

Email: To submit an emailed public comment to the Board email [email protected]. Please provide your name, the agenda item number #26, and your comment. These comments will be emailed to all Board members.

Call: To submit public comment via recorded message, please call
(707) 691-0174 by 5pm, Monday, Aug 17th. State your name and the item number #26. The recordings will be time-limited.

Attend: Attend the BOS meeting on Tuesday, Aug 18th at 2PM: Click here to participate in the Zoom meeting by computer, tablet, or smartphone: Enter Password: 397774.

If you have not already joined, we encourage you to check out the Sonoma County Coalition of Hosts, a local independent group of vacation rental operators fighting for fair and effective regulations in Sonoma County.

Best,
Vrbo Government Affairs
