Please bring household pets indoors during freezing temperatures.
Extreme cold can cause hypothermia and frostbite very quickly.
Household Pet Tips: Bring pets inside the home or heated area-
Provide fresh water (check often so it doesn’t freeze) -Keep walks short-Wipe paws after walks (salt can burn paws)-Never leave pets in unheated garages or sheds-
Farm Animal Tips:
Provide windbreak shelter (barn, lean-to, or thick bedding area)
Use deep straw bedding to keep animals dry/warm
Ensure water stays unfrozen (heated buckets or frequent checks)
Increase feed slightly — animals burn more energy staying warm
Check animals often for signs of cold stress- Signs -Shivering-
Lethargy or weakness-Cold ears/feet-Trouble standing-When in doubt: bring them in and call a vet.
