One of the biggest misconceptions in real estate? Thinking the only thing you can negotiate is the purchase price.

In some transactions, buyers can negotiate for the seller to contribute toward certain closing costs or prepaid expenses. That can make a meaningful difference in the cash you need to bring to closing.

Of course, whether a seller credit makes sense depends on the property, the offer, the seller's position, and your loan program.

The takeaway? Don't assume the answer is no before you ask. A strong offer isn't always about offering more—it can be about structuring the offer strategically.
