Welcome to Saint James Place in the downtown Philly neighborhood of Rittenhouse Square!
Very aptly named “English Village” was designed by architect Spencer Roberts and built in 1928 in the Tudor Revival style. Flanked by gated entrances on both ends, the nearly 100-year-old complex has 20 row homes which share a central stone courtyard.
Slate roofs, dormer windows, and wrought iron balconies adorn the houses, adding bits of English countryside touches throughout. Blooming flowers in shades of purple, pink, yellow, and orange pop their heads up to say hello. 🌸
Tucked away from the hubbub of the neighboring streets, if you ever find yourself near 22nd and Walnut, just head south a bit and peek in for a quick visit. What a delightful little surprise you’ll have! ☺️
