A little warmth on this snowy Sunday. On Friday I hosted my first ever “Shaina’s Story Parlor”. An initiative I created to encourage a love for reading geared specifically towards school age children in underserved communities. The intention, to create a friendly reading competition amongst the students. The reward, all the pizza they can eat 🤓🍕🤘🏾
This was truly a labor of love, that brought tears to my eyes once it finally came to fruition. Life is all about paying it forward, and if this small gesture can reach just one child, and change the trajectory of their future…then my efforts served its purpose.
Thank you to the principal and staff of John Moffet Elementary School for allowing me to bring Shaina’s Story Parlor to your students and make this vision possible.
I also want to give a special shout out to my new friend Mama Jen down in Nollaaaa Babbyy of the Community Book Center, the oldest black owned book store in New Orleans. Thank you for blessing me with your presence during my time in Nola ♥️. I was honored to gift the students books from such a magical place ✨✨
To Mo of MoJu’s Family Pizzeria, thank you for such an amazing experience from order to pick up . GREAT pizza, GREAT customer service 💯 Make sure you all support his family business.
Last, but certainly not least, a shout out to girl Amber for capturing these moments and all my other friends, who are always encouraging me to be more present on social media and not to be shy about shining a light on the things I do that bring me joy offline. Hopefully this highlights the importance of giving back. Remember, impact doesn’t require scale, just intention.
More from Shaina’s Story Parlor is on the way 📓🍕♥️😊
