Covenant House PA

Covenant House PA Covenant House Pennsylvania is much more than a shelter. Your generosity and support isn't only welcome, but needed.

Inspired by faith, we are a community devoted to absolute respect and unconditional love ensuring that all youth experiencing homelessness can lead lives full of purpose and joy. We provide an array of services for homeless young people, including a first-class medical clinic, full time staff to assist with educational and vocational needs, and around the clock one-on-one support to help our young

people plan, stay on track, and achieve their goals. We also provide housing for longer periods to give our kids ample time to find work, learn important skills, and save money - giving them the best possible chance of achieving independence. With the vital work that we do, it's hard to believe that we operate almost entirely on private donations - more than 90% to be exact. If you would like to make a gift, please reach out to our Development team at [email protected] or call (215) 302-7506.

โ˜€๏ธ Summer fun, connection, and making memories! ๐Ÿ’™

Last week, Covenant House PA took our youth to Neshaminy State Park for our annual summer picnic! ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

From swimming and scenic walks to food, games, laughs, and quality time with staff, it was a day all about creating positive experiences and lasting memories with our young people. ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ”๐ŸŽฏ

At Covenant House PA, we believe that fighting youth homelessness means more than providing a safe place to stay. It means creating opportunities for joy, connection, community, and belonging.

Weโ€™re grateful for days like these and for the staff who continue to show up for our youth every day. ๐Ÿ’™

Yesterday, our youth had the opportunity to attend Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp, and it was a day they wonโ€™t soon forget! ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ’š

From watching practice and enjoying amazing food to meeting players and experiencing the excitement of camp, our youth were able to simply have fun, laugh, and make memories.

For young people experiencing homelessness, moments like these matter. They create space for joy, connection, and the opportunity to feel celebrated and included.

Weโ€™re grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles for welcoming our youth and giving them an experience theyโ€™ll carry with them long after training camp is over. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฆ…

Some partnerships last for years. Some become part of the story.

Dr. Ken Ginsburg has been part of Covenant Houseโ€™s story since 1985: nearly four decades of standing alongside young people and believing in their potential to heal, grow, and thrive.

As we celebrate 25 years of Covenant House Pennsylvania, Dr. Ginsburg reminds us that healing begins with something every young person deserves: to be seen, heard, respected, and loved.

๐ŸŽ“ Throwback to one of our favorite celebrations of the summer!

Last month, we celebrated our Class of 2026 with a Philly-style graduation party complete with water ice, cake, balloons, certificates, and lots of cheering.

For any young person, earning a diploma is a milestone. For youth overcoming homelessness, trauma, and housing insecurity, it's a remarkable achievement that reflects resilience, determination, and hope for the future.

We're so proud of every graduate and can't wait to see where their journeys take them next.

Congratulations to the Covenant House PA Class of 2026. Your entire community is cheering you on. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’™

What does 25 years of impact look like?

Sometimes it's changing a law.

Sometimes it's helping a survivor rebuild their life.

Sometimes, it's two women who met in a crisis and became family.

For more than 15 years, Natalie has helped lead Covenant House PA's anti-trafficking and advocacy efforts. Tammy is one of the survivors whose life was forever changed through that work, who paid it forward to help other young people heal and rebuild their futures.

Watch their powerful conversation and discover how love, advocacy, and unwavering support can change lives for generations.

Today, we're giving a special shoutout to our incredible partners at Hand2Paw! ๐Ÿพ

Each year, many of our residents complete paid internships with Hand2Paw, where they gain hands-on job experience while building confidence, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and other life and career skills through animal-assisted programming.

Recently, Hand2Paw led an animal welfare workshop for our Rights of Passage youth, co-facilitated by one of our recent program graduates, who has since also moved into his own apartment! Youth also got to meet Maitake the snake and Toadstool the bearded dragon while learning about the humane treatment of animals.

Thank you, Hand2Paw, for helping our young people grow, heal, and prepare for bright futures. ๐Ÿ’™

There's something special about watching a seed become something you can nurture.

Last week, our volunteer Celia Pretter and social worker Carrie Yip hosted a gardening day for youth at Safe Haven, where youth learned basic gardening skills, created their own mini garden, and planted a new herb garden in our outdoor space.

Since then, we've seen youth spending time outside tending to the plants, enjoying the greenery, smelling fresh herbs, and even picking a few leaves to taste.

For young people recovering from homelessness and trauma, opportunities like these are about so much more than gardening. They offer a chance to slow down, connect with nature, build confidence through caring for something, and find moments of peace and joy along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to Celia and Carrie for creating another meaningful opportunity for our youth to grow...both in the garden and beyond.

June may be Pride Month, but at Covenant House PA, we celebrate Pride every day. ๐ŸŒˆ

Did you know that 51% of the young people we served last year identified as LGBTQ+? Nationally, LGBTQ+ youth make up just 7% of the youth population, yet account for about 40% of youth experiencing homelessness. Many are pushed into homelessness because of family rejection.

That's why, at the Cov, every young person is welcomed with unconditional love, absolute respect, and relentless support...exactly as they are.

Recently, our staff and youth celebrated Pride with a Sip & Paint afternoon filled with sparkling juice, creativity, laughter, and community. Because healing isn't just about meeting basic needs. It's also about creating spaces where youth feel safe, seen, celebrated, and free to be themselves.

Happy Pride, every day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

OUR 25 YEARS OF IMPACT REPORT IS HERE!

For 25 years, you've helped turn compassion into action, and hope into home.

Inside these pages, you'll meet the young people, alumni, staff, volunteers, and partners who have shaped Covenant House PA's story.

From just two beds available for youth experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia when we started to 109 beds today, this journey has never been about buildings or programs alone.

This milestone is a celebration of the 57,000+ young people who have found safety, healing and opportunity over the years, and those who refused to give up on them.

To every donor, volunteer, staff member, advocate, and partner... and to every young person who trusted us to walk beside them, this story belongs to ALL of us.

Thank you for helping write the first 25 years of this story. We hope you'll take a look inside, and continue building what's next with us.
