I came across this newsletter from The Copper Courier and Jessica Swarner and it’s SO well written, entertaining and helpful! 🙌

I get nothing from sharing this. She has no idea. Lol I just know a lot of people are struggling with the housing market right now, and as a Phoenix native, I wanted to pass along something useful for renters in Greater Phoenix.

Chandler, and Tempe , Arizona were both named among America’s Top 100 Best Places to Live in 2026. Chandler ranked No. 16 nationally, and Tempe ranked No. 30.

They are neighboring East Valley cities, but they offer very different housing, locations and daily routines.

Chandler generally offers more newer homes, master-planned communities, larger floor plans and access to major technology and employment centers.

Tempe offers a more central location, established neighborhoods, proximity to ASU and Sky Harbor Airport, plus more restaurants, events and transportation options.

Citywide rankings still miss important local differences. South Tempe is not the same as the ASU area. Ocotillo is not the same as Downtown Chandler. Southwest Chandler, South Tempe and Ahwatukee also form a connected pocket that many relocation homebuyers overlook.

🏠 New Build vs. Resale Homes in Greater Phoenix

New construction may offer newer systems, builder warranties, modern layouts and financing incentives.

Resale homes may offer established locations, mature landscaping, larger lots, pools and improvements that are already complete.

Neither is automatically better or less expensive.
