Senate Bill 1633 could mean big tax savings on your primary residence. Right now, selling can trigger state capital gains tax, but this bill could change that for homeowners who’ve lived in their home for the past 5 years.

Supporters say it helps seniors downsize, families move to homes that fit their needs, and people relocate for better jobs. Critics worry it mostly benefits higher-income sellers and could reduce funds for schools and public services.

I believe owning a home is already a big financial responsibility, and taxes shouldn’t go up just because your property value does. We should be encouraging homeownership, not making it harder.
