🏡 5 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started in Real Estate
If I could go back and give myself a “Dad talk” before I got into this business, here’s what I’d say - whether you’re buying, selling, investing, or just curious, these might save you some time, money, and stress:
1️⃣ Stop chasing cold leads. Start building real relationships.
People work with people they trust - not just whoever pops up first online. Focus on connection.
2️⃣ Buying a home isn’t just a financial decision. It’s personal.
You can’t run a spreadsheet on street noise or bad natural light. Trust your gut.
3️⃣ Cash flow > hoping it’ll go up in value.
Appreciation is a maybe. Cash flow is what keeps the lights on and the stress low.
4️⃣ The market doesn’t care about your plans.
It’s not mean, it’s just math. Stay flexible, stay informed, and adjust as needed.
5️⃣ Your team can make or break the whole thing.
Good lender, good inspector, solid agent, honest contractor? That’s gold. Don’t go at it alone.
If you're just starting your real estate journey - or thinking about your next move - take it from someone who’s learned a few things the hard way: lean into learning, surround yourself with people you trust, and don’t wait for everything to be perfect.
Need advice? No pressure. Just solid guidance from a Real Estate Dad who’s been there. 🙋♂️
