The Landscape Committee had arranged the planting of our annual flowers yesterday, and we had an overwhelming response of volunteers show up to help. Nine Association Members in all came to help plant the flowers in both pool areas and the various flower pots throughout the community.
We do have some irrigation issues in a couple of the areas which "Back to Nature" is aware of and will address on Monday. In the meantime we have volunteers assigned to water these areas over the weekend.
This was a great success of community effort, and the best part was everybody had fun.

What a tasty and informative afternoon. We harvested barrel cactus fruit, removed and toasted the seeds, then made "candy" from the rest of the fruit. What does the fruit taste like? The seeds taste like poppy seeds and the flesh reminded me of Granny Smith apples. I'm looking forward to another field trip with Kelly Athena. She is a master gardener and lives in my neighborhood.

As you know last night (10/6/2011) was a General Meeting of the HOA Board. This was not an ordinary HOA meeting. The Board had important information to announce.

Yesterday, the San Simeon Board of Directors along with the HOA attorney gave a 90 day notice to Condominium Rental Services, their contract with the Association has been terminated. CRS will be leaving the property. It was also made known to CRS that if they could leave sooner that would be desirable.

A notice was also sent out to BN Financing. This is the group that holds the $6.1 million lien on our property. BN Financing has been given 30 days to produce a Release of Lien. If that Release is not produced the board and their attorneys will file for a Quiet Claim Deed. This is GREAT.

Sue, another unit owner here, and I will be spreading the word to the residents living here about the break-ins. We are also going to have the police come to give a talk and organize a Neighborhood Watch. On my walk this morning with my dog I told everyone I saw about the break-ins and asked them to pass the information along too.

Now that the BIG issues are taken care of work here is not done. There is now a posting by the mail boxes asking for volunteers for the formation of Committees. Yes....There are going to be Landscape, Clubhouse/Social, Newsletter & Architectural Committees. If anyone would like to sign up, even if you do not live here, we can use you thoughts, ideas suggestions and help.

My main goal and objective since coming to San Simeon has been about Community and helping connect Owner and Residents for a sense of Community. Now the fun begins with, activities that are informative, fun, and create a sense of pride. Neighbors looking out for Neighbors.
