The news organization I founded last year, LOOKOUT, is a finalist for the Next Media Awards! We're up for $90k in total, and $10k of that is from a public vote.
We really need your help in getting this award money to help us thrive. We're the only news outlet in all of Arizona that covers LGBTQ+ issues, and we do it through a critical, accountability-first lens. We've already had incredible impact for such a brand new outlet, including getting mayors involved in hate crime investigations, legislation drafted, and candidates dropped by campaign managers--all because of our reporting.
But until we hit our three-year anniversary, or $1m in the bank, foundational funding just isn't there. These kinds of grants help make sure we can pay people, and we don't go dark for weeks on end.
