📸 Inspection Spotlight – Stone Veneer & Chimney Moisture Issues
Today’s inspection revealed significant concerns with a stone-veneer chimney. As you can see in the photos, efflorescence is present on both the front and rear faces of the chimney—a clear indicator of moisture intrusion.
A major contributing factor: the chimney cap was constructed entirely of mortar, which offers inadequate long-term protection and often allows water to pe*****te directly into the structure. Over time, this can lead to internal damage, mold, rot, and costly repairs if not addressed properly.
🏠Why Exterior Inspections Matter
Whether your home features stone veneer, stucco, brick, or traditional siding, proper construction details are critical to keeping your home dry and performing as intended. During a comprehensive exterior inspection, we evaluate:
✔️ Flashing details
✔️ Sealant placement and condition
✔️ Moisture-management components
✔️ Installation methods
✔️ Evidence of water intrusion within the wall cavity
Early identification of deficiencies protects your home and saves thousands in preventable repairs.
