As the cold weather approaches, Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services wants to remind residents to stay safe and be prepared.
Here are a few important safety tips to follow:

๐ซ Never use blow torches or high-intensity heat sources to thaw frozen pipes, whether inside or underneath your home.
๐ง Leave faucets dripping slightly to help prevent pipes from freezing or bursting.
โ๏ธ Keep cabinet doors open to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.

๐ฅ Keep space heaters at least three feet away from anything that can burn, including curtains, furniture, and bedding.
๐ง Have your heating system inspected by a qualified professional to ensure its operating safely and efficiently.
๐ If using a generator, make sure it is well-maintained and placed outdoors at least 20ft away from windows, doors, and vents. Direct the exhaust away from combustible materials with about 3-4ft of clearance.

๐ When warming up your vehicle, always open your garage door to allow for proper ventilation.
๐ Make sure to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working properly.
