Dear friends,
We did a thing in March of 2023. We bought 11 acres on the Paleface River up in Northern Minnesota near Cotton, MN and we want to offer it to those who have been impacted by su***de or mental health struggles to go camping and enjoy nature's healing powers. Whether you have lost a loved one to su***de, have been impacted by those who struggle with mental illness or you yourself struggle with mental health, please know this place is meant for you for some time of reflection, healing and peace. There are no "qualifications". If you're human you qualify. It has electricity but no running water. Close to Sax Zim Bog which is one of the nation's premier birding areas and 40 minutes from Duluth and the North Shore. No cost unless you wish to make a donation to https://www.namimn.org/ or other non-profit in memory of my brother Chris or another loved one. No obligation to do that.
It is our prayer that this place will be a place to bring healing, reflection and a place to find at least a small dose of peace and respite from the grieving. We want you to know that this place is for ALL. No matter who you are, what you believe in and where you come from...YOU. ARE. WELCOME.
There is electricity but no running water at this site. However, the great folks at Old School Lives have generously offered water fill-ups and showers to our campers. They also have a great thrift store, coffee shop, mercantile and so much more. Just a few miles away.
Go to campchriscotton.com and go to the reservations tab to check out the calendar and see what dates are available. After you pick the date email us at [email protected] with your request. We are tentatively planning on starting May 15 but that is dependent on weather and how wet the grounds are at the time.
Please contact me here or at the email above with any questions, thoughts or ideas. Feel free to share this post to any and all that may benefit from this space.
