The governor wants the Legislature to direct upwards of $5 billion towards “immediate property tax relief” for Florida homeowners – which, if approved, would save about $1,000 for each homesteaded resident.

In February, Florida’s housing market reported more inventory (active listings) and moderating median sales prices compared to a year ago, according to Florida Realtors®’ latest housing data. Statewide inventory last month was higher than a year ago for both existing single-family homes, increasing by 31.6%, and for condo-townhouse units, up 36%. Meanwhile, the supply of single-family existing homes was at a 5.3-months’ supply while existing condo-townhouse properties were at a 9.7-months’ supply last month.

The following are three benefits of energy-efficient homes:
1️⃣ Save money: Energy-efficient appliances can help homeowners overcome price spikes, as the U.S. Department of Energy indicates upgrading to such products can help homeowners reduce their energy costs by as much as 30%.
2️⃣ Improve resale value: As the NAHB survey indicates, modern homebuyers want energy-efficient homes. They're also willing to pay more for such homes. Research from the mortgage lender Freddie Mac found that homes with energy-efficient ratings sold for nearly 3% more on average than homes without such ratings.
3️⃣ Live healthier: According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, insulation and air sealing protect individuals from heat waves and other ripple effects of climate change.
