A great public servant. RIP

Merrett Stierheim, the former county manager who made a mark on Miami-Dade County government died Sunday. He was 90. Stierheim served as superintendent of county schools, Miami’s city manager, and twice as county manager — the first time was in Dade County, then again after the county’s name was changed to Miami-Dade.

The Village is saddened by his passing. He is remembered as a model public servant and a charismatic friend and mentor. Stierheim served on the 1996 Pinecrest Village Manager Search Committee and the 1996 Pinecrest Charter Commission. The Village presented Stierheim with a proclamation on December 11, 2007, for his public service. He was 90 years old.
