It's been a while since we've sent a community email, and we'd like to explain why. As we've mentioned in previous community emails, Optimum had been flagging our emails as spam, and so no optimum.net addresses could receive them. In order to try to fix this problem (and some other issues), our web host transferred us to a new server, but that caused some other problems. Fortunately, we have fixed the problems created by the move, and things should now work again, including emails to optimum.net addresses. However, if people start flagging the emails as spam again, we will wind up with the same problem, so if you see an email from us and you do not wish to receive further emails, please just contact us and we will remove you. If our email does wind up in your spam folder, please mark it as not spam.
We will also continue to update our page, so please like us there. We are Society Hill at Piscataway. And if you need to access the old emails, they are accessible in the archive by following the link at the end of this email (resident login required). We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
Pool Season
The pool season will be in full swing starting Saturday, 6/20. The pool will be open 7 days a week, 10AM - 8PM. You must have a resident ID or a guest ID in order to use the pool. If you do not have an ID, you may enter with another person who has an ID, provided they remain with you during your stay. Also, if you plan to rent the clubhouse for an evening party and wish to use the pool after hours, please contact the office regarding having a lifeguard during that time.
Pond Updates
Last year we dredged the pond, which will hopefully help control the algae. For those of you seeing green in the pond, that is duckweed, which is not the same as algae, and usually gets flushed out when there is a big rain. We will, however, be putting in the fountain and that should help move the duckweed to the edges of the pond.
Maintenance Garage
Our architect is working on the architectural drawings for the garage, after which we will have to plan how we will build the structure (using our crew, contracted out, or some hybrid of the two). We will try to do the utility installations before we build the garage, so we may be able to pave Hampshire Court before the structure is complete.
Mt. Laurel Litigation
The Association's attorney, Hill Wallack, has contacted a few of the Mt. Laurel unit owners who have agreed to join the suit against the Township. The firm also found out that the Township, without informing the Association or any of the owners, passed a resolution that changes the master deed of the Association to extend the affordable controls for another 30 years. Whether this is legal or not, we are not certain, however it certainly raises questions. In any case, we should be ready to file suit in a couple of weeks.
Berries
The strawberries are basically done for the season and, in fact, have reached the end of their life cycle. We will probably be removing them this year and replanting them so they should be producing next year. The blueberries are also starting to ripen, and the blackberries will be ready soon. The gooseberries near Rt. 18 have also ripened, but are mostly gone by now.
Summer Kids
The Association will be having some high-school students back this summer to do various landscaping tasks. Most of the kids are ones who have worked here in the past, so they should know what to do, but we will be training them again to make sure. So if you see some teenagers working in the planting beds or picking up litter, you'll know why.
June Board Meeting Cancelled
Due to a combination of scheduling conflicts and illness among the board members, the June Board of Trustees meeting was cancelled. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 15th at 7PM at the clubhouse.
