***WINTER STORM ALERT*** FEBRUARY 2017

As Winter Storm Niko approaches, we encourage our residents to review the information below containing announcements regarding snow removal procedures and safety.

Snow Removal Procedures
If cleanup requires more manpower than our own staff, we have "stand by" help from our landscapers, masons and roofers.

Snow removal is a multi-phased process. First, snow plows work to keep streets open. Second, parking lots are cleared. The final phase is removing snow from the parking spaces which is the most challenging, as this can only be accomplished successfully when all resident’s vehicles are moved.

WE WILL POST ANOTHER UPDATE HERE ON FACEBOOK WITH A TIME THAT OUR PLOWS WILL START THE PARKING LOTS. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES...

While we are clearing snow from our streets and parking lots, our supers and maintenance workers are using snow blowers or quads to clear paths on sidewalks. Others are shoveling steps and landings.

When there are two entrances to a building, the one used most will be cleared out first. Residents are urged to use the cleared path and avoid using the other entrance and pathway until it has been cleared.

BE SAFE EVERYONE!

***SNOW REMOVAL PLAN****
Dear Residents,

Snowfall started at 8am this morning and is expected to stop at 6pm. We have plowed our main road, Princeton Road and a path to the leasing office. Our leasing office is open until 5pm today if you have any questions or concerns.
Meanwhile, please be ready to shovel your cars out of your spots and move your vehicles from the main road and parking lots at 3:30pm. We will have a plow between 3:30 and 4:00pm to clear the lots and the main road. The success of our plowing efforts requires community cooperation as the plows cannot manuever around vehicles. Please plan to move your vehicle to another location from 3:30 to 6pm so we can clear the roads efficiently.
We will need Princeton Road clear and accessible for large plows to get the job done and maneuver without obstruction.
If there is a change in weather conditions that causes changes to this snow clean up plan, we will post further updates here. Please be vigil of what is going on outside throughout the day and if you see the plow near your lot, be ready to move swiftly so we can clean the community.
Our Princeton Gardens team will also be on foot shoveling walk-ways and salting. We ask for your patience as our staff works. If you see a hazardous condition such as ice-build up, please report to the office at 732.752.1050 until 5pm and call our emergency line at 732.589.5113 after hours.
We thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation as we work diligently through our snow removal plan.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office and we'll be happy to assist.
Be safe everyone and happy snow day!!

Snow Safety
With snow removal going on, we urge our residents to think twice before venturing out during inclement weather. Is your “expedition” really urgent enough to have you risk injuring yourself and/or damaging your vehicle? If you are in good physical condition and you absolutely MUST venture out (especially when it is before the snow removal crew has arrived at your location), consider the following:
• Dress appropriately for the weather. Multiple layers may not only keep you warm but will also give you added “padding” protection if you should fall.
• Keep your gloved hands free of any bundles and out of your pockets in order to grasp handrails, help with balance, or control how you land if you should fall.
• Wear proper non-slip warm footwear. (Women should avoid wearing high heeled shoes or boots.)
• Take smaller steps than you normally do, be alert and watch where you step. Be especially careful of nearly invisible black ice.
• Arriving from outdoors, brush off your clothing before you enter. Once inside, watch for deposits of snow and water.
Winter Auto Safety
• Downed wires should always be considered "live". Do not approach or drive over a downed electrical line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with.
• Be sure your tires are in good working condition (all season or winter tires are best).
• Be sure your anti-freeze levels are sufficient.
• Keep your washer fluid reservoir full.
• Be sure your windshield wipers are in good condition.
• Carry a scraper and brush for ice and snow removal.
• Take time to warm-up your vehicle.
• Take time to brush all of the snow off (NJ & NY law).
• Scrape all windows and windshields for maximum visibility.
• Drive with your lights on during cloudy or stormy conditions.
• Be mindful of your speed and maintain sufficient distance between you and the cars in front of you.
• Maintain sufficient distance between you and the cars in front of you.
