You’ve probably heard the saying: “The best time to buy was 20 years ago. The second best time is today.”
While no one can predict the future, there’s a reason that phrase sticks around.
Over the long term — especially here in California and on the Central Coast — real estate has generally trended upward. There are always market shifts, headlines, and rate changes. But historically, time has tended to reward homeowners.
Right now, interest rates have been hovering around 6% and even dipping slightly below recently, which we haven’t consistently seen since 2022. For some buyers who’ve been waiting, that’s creating opportunity to step back in.
Trying to perfectly time the market usually doesn’t work. What often matters more is time in the market. Getting in sooner can mean starting to build equity sooner — and if rates improve later, refinancing could be an option depending on your situation.
For sellers, this market still rewards thoughtful pricing and strong marketing. Especially on the Central Coast, strategy really matters.
If you’ve been wondering whether now makes sense for you, I’m always happy to talk it through! Feel free to reach out to me anytime.
