Is spray foam the right solution here? 🤔. Not all spray foam is created equal — especially when it comes to lifting or leveling concrete steps.

Professional concrete lifting foam is specifically designed to support heavy loads and resist moisture over time. Using the wrong type of foam, such as standard insulating or “Great Stuff”-style expanding foam, can lead to poor support, continued settling, cracking, or even additional movement of the steps. In some cases, improper foam products can trap moisture or deteriorate over time when exposed to the elements.
Concrete leveling should only be performed with materials intended for structural lifting applications, and by qualified professionals familiar with the process. A shortcut repair today can easily become a bigger safety issue tomorrow. 🦏

Service entrance cables should never be in direct contact with the ground! These cables carry the main electrical supply into the home, and prolonged exposure to soil and moisture can damage the insulation over time. Ground contact also increases the risk of corrosion, physical damage from landscaping equipment, and potential electrical hazards. Just imagine if you got too close with a shovel or lawnmower?!

If service entrance cables are found touching the ground, they should be evaluated and corrected by a licensed electrician to ensure proper support and safe installation. 🦏

Carpenter bees are everywhere right now! Make sure they get treated before you move in your new house

Carpenter bees might look harmless flying around your house, but the damage they cause is very real.

Unlike bumblebees, carpenter bees drill perfectly round holes into wood to build nests. You’ll usually find them around decks, railings, soffits, fences, fascia boards, sheds, and other exposed wood around the home.

And it doesn’t stop at one hole.

Over time, they tunnel through the wood to create galleries inside. The longer they come back year after year, the more damage builds up. Woodpeckers also love going after carpenter bee larvae, which can make the damage even worse.

Most people first notice them hovering near the house or seeing sawdust underneath the holes.

The good news is they can be treated before the problem gets out of hand.
