❄️WEATHER ALERT ☃️
• The Pittsburg Police Department urges all residents to be aware of the inclement weather conditions expected in our area. Significant snow fall and dangerously cold temperatures are expected to affect our area. Safety is our top priority, so please take the necessary precautions.
• ⚖️Municipal Court: ⚖️ The City of Pittsburg Municipal Court has cancelled court for Wednesday 2/19/2025.
• ❄️Road Conditions: Anticipated snow fall will likely make roads hazardous. Please reduce your speed, increase following distance, and importantly avoid unnecessary travel. If you must drive, make sure your vehicle is equipped with proper tires, windshield wipers, and emergency supplies. Please see the City’s Winter Storm Response Plan for snow removal questions (https://www.pittks.org/services/snow-removal-ice-control/) or the Kansas Department of Transportation website (https://www.kandrive.gov/).
• 🚗💨Unattended vehicles: The department wants to remind citizens not to leave vehicles running and unattended, whether the vehicle is in a driveway, parking lot or while running into a convenience store. It only takes a few seconds for someone cold to hop in and warm up in your vehicle while they drive away. 41% of vehicles reported stolen to the Pittsburg Police Department in 2024 had been left unattended and running.
• 🐕Prepare Your Pets: Bring/keep your pets indoors.
• 🚓Emergency Services: We are closely monitoring the impending winter weather arriving early Tuesday morning and encourages residents to check our social media for important updates, traffic hazards, and road conditions. For non-emergencies please call (620) 231-1700.
