Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend, a barbecue, or the unofficial start of summer.
It’s a day to pause and remember the brave men and women who gave their *last full measure of devotion* for our country—those who never made it home to their families, their spouses, or their children.
As someone who served in the Marine Corps (13 years active) and the Navy (3 years as a reservist), I’ve known brothers and sisters in arms who made that sacrifice. Today, I’m especially honored to remember Cpl Dale Burger Jr., a United States Marine who laid down his life for this nation. His courage and legacy live on in his family, in our hearts, and in the freedoms we hold dear.
To my fellow veterans, service members, and Gold Star families—especially the Burgers—we see you today and every day. The weight of your loss is not forgotten.
And to my own family— Charnekia and our kids—thank you for understanding that today is more than just a day off. It’s a reminder of the cost of the liberties we enjoy, and why we must never take them for granted.
Honor the fallen. Remember their sacrifice. 🇺🇸
