🏈🔥 FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS — WEEK 1 RECAP! 🔥🏈

What an opening weekend for high school football across Washington, Greene & Fayette Counties! Rivalries, shutouts, breakout performances and some young players announcing themselves in a BIG way.

⭐ WEEK 1 SUPERSTARS

🔥 Brandon Meier — California
Talk about a season-opening statement. The sophomore quarterback completed 11 of 15 passes for 266 yards and FOUR touchdowns, then added two rushing touchdowns in California’s 40–6 win over Mohawk. That’s six TDs accounted for.

🔥 Chas Rush — Avella
Rush did a little bit of EVERYTHING in Avella’s 48–0 victory over Mapletown — he caught a 67-yard touchdown, ran for two scores and threw a 68-yard TD pass. Teammate Gage Samol added 135 rushing yards on only five carries as the Eagles piled up 313 yards on the ground.

🔥 Owen Samogala — Trinity
The junior QB made his presence felt immediately, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two more as Trinity knocked off Ringgold 34–12. Owen Gardner also powered the Hillers with 104 rushing yards.

🔥 Colin Sieg — Fort Cherry
A new Sieg era may be underway. The freshman quarterback threw for 145 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in his varsity debut as Fort Cherry rolled past Chartiers-Houston 42–7.

🔥 Brayden Hinzy — Uniontown
Hinzy was 5-for-6 for 139 yards and three touchdown passes as Uniontown captured the first National Road Cup with a 47–0 win over Brownsville. Marcus Evans added 96 receiving yards, while Gavin Radford took a punt 40 yards to the house.

🔥 Ty Jansma & the Canon-McMillan defense
Jansma threw for 198 yards, spreading the ball to nine different receivers, while the Big Macs defense forced key turnovers in a 19–3 rivalry win over defending WPIAL 5A champion Peters Township.

And those are just a few of the performances from an outstanding opening weekend.
