Ten things I hate about Pittsburgh…although “hate” might be a strong word. 🖤💛

From our hills and bridges to our unpredictable weather and uniquely Pittsburgh traditions, this city has a way of frustrating you and making you love it even more.

I may never completely understand the roads, the weather forecast or the authority of a parking chair—but I’ll always appreciate the neighborhoods, character and people that make Pittsburgh feel like Pittsburgh.

What would you add to the list?

Whether you like them mild, hot, BBQ, garlic parmesan, or extra crispy, today is the perfect excuse to order a dozen from your favorite local spot.

One of the best parts of living in Pittsburgh is having so many neighborhood restaurants, sports bars, and hidden gems serving up great wings across the city. Supporting local never tasted so good!

🌉 The new Commercial Street Bridge is officially open!

After just 17 days, traffic is moving again on the Parkway East—a full week ahead of schedule. Crews demolished the former bridge and used an innovative sliding system to move the replacement structure 102 feet into position.

With approximately 100,000 vehicles traveling this section of I-376 each day, the reopening restores a critical connection between Pittsburgh and its eastern communities. It is an impressive accomplishment made possible by the crews, engineers and public-safety professionals who worked around the clock.

A major Pittsburgh roadway is moving again—and ahead of schedule. Welcome to the new Commercial Street Bridge! 🖤💛

🚧 Travel note: Commercial Street and the Nine Mile Run Trail beneath the bridge are expected to remain closed through early August while work continues.

Today, I’m especially proud to call Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania home.

⚠️ CODE PURPLE AIR QUALITY ALERT IN PITTSBURGH ⚠️

That haze hanging over Pittsburgh today isn’t fog.

Smoke from wildfires in Ontario, Canada, and Minnesota has moved into Western Pennsylvania, creating very unhealthy air-quality conditions across the region.

🟣 What does Code Purple mean?

Code Purple represents an Air Quality Index of 201–300. At this level, the risk of health effects is increased for everyone—not only those considered sensitive to air pollution.

For today:

• People with asthma, heart or lung conditions, older adults, children and teenagers should avoid outdoor physical activity.
• Everyone should avoid long or strenuous outdoor activities and consider moving workouts and plans indoors.
• Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
• Use filtered air conditioning or an air purifier indoors.
• Check current conditions before spending time outside, as air quality can vary throughout the region.

Symptoms from wildfire smoke may include coughing, wheezing, irritated eyes, chest tightness or shortness of breath.

The smoky skyline may look dramatic, but today’s air quality is something to take seriously. Stay informed, check on vulnerable neighbors and take it easy outdoors today, Pittsburgh. 💜

Current local conditions can be monitored through EPA AirNow.

Information based on guidance from AirNow, PA DEP and the Allegheny County Health Department.

💥A Pittsburgh Landmark Comes Down💥

With one powerful boom, the old Commercial Street Bridge came crashing down—marking a dramatic milestone in one of the region’s largest infrastructure projects.

The implosion clears the way for an incredible feat of engineering: sliding a newly constructed, 11,000-ton bridge into place along the Parkway East.

For Pittsburghers, the current detours may be testing our patience, but this is the Steel City doing what it has always done best—building, adapting and moving forward. 🏗️

Did you watch the implosion, or did you hear the boom from where you were?

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, opportunity, resilience, and the enduring spirit that has shaped our nation.

From the founding of a bold new republic in 1776 to the communities we proudly call home today, America's story has always been written by hardworking people who dream big, overcome challenges, and build a better future for the next generation.

As a proud Pittsburgh native, I'm grateful to live and work in a city that reflects those same values—strength, innovation, and a deep sense of community.

Whether you're spending the day with family, enjoying local celebrations, or simply reflecting on what makes this country special, take a moment to appreciate the freedoms and opportunities that unite us all.

Here's to 250 years of American history—and to the future we'll continue building together.

Happy Father’s Day, Pittsburgh! 💙

Today, we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who help make Pittsburgh such a special place to call home.

From teaching us how to ride a bike through the neighborhood, to cheering from the stands on game day, to lending a hand when we need it most — fathers leave a lasting impact on our lives and our communities.

Whether you're spending the day at a backyard cookout, catching a ballgame, exploring the city, or simply enjoying time with family, take a moment to thank the father figures who have helped shape your journey.

Here's to the dads who work hard, love deeply, and always show up when it matters most.

Happy Father’s Day from Pittsburgh and from Brandon Berkavich Realtor!
