If you applied for a rebate through the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program and included your phone number on your application, you will receive an automated call from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue to let you know your rebate has been approved for payment. These calls are designed to keep applicants updated about their rebate status. Remember that rebates will be distributed starting on July 1, 2026.

"Chester Burney has been living at the Aspen, a converted hotel, for 16 months. “After my wife died, I spiraled,” he recalls. “It’s nice to have somewhere you can try to get back on track.” Crucially, the program includes not just housing but support. Each floor has “care coordinators” who help “guests” get new IDs, food stamps and housing. Mr Burney now works at a burger restaurant and is planning to move into his own place in August."

Uptown Flats is entering the home stretch! The 34-unit affordable housing community developed in partnership with Bethlehem Haven and ACTION-Housing is quickly taking shape in Pittsburgh's Uptown neighborhood.

Designed to support individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, Uptown Flats will offer a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, along with on-site amenities that promote connection and long-term stability. The building's first floor will feature dedicated space for resident services, meetings, community programming, and educational opportunities, creating a hub for support and engagement.

Uptown Flats is about more than housing. The development is designed to provide residents with a stable foundation and access to the support, resources, and opportunities needed to build a brighter future.

Kicking off our new social media series recognizing the successes of our neighbors, let's give our first round of applause to The Allens, who closed on their wonderful home in McKeesport this spring, amid blocks of one-of-a-kind historic and architecturally significant homes.

Young people transitioning out of foster care or experiencing housing instability face significant challenges. Through ACTION Housing's MyPlace program, over 150 young adults per year receive stable housing and supportive services designed to help them build successful futures. Our upcoming Uptown Lofts development will feature an Alumni Center that supports former residents who complete the program and connects them with current residents for peer support. ​

Together, we are empowering young people to move from instability to possibilities.
