I want to share Bill's amazing life which many do not know, and is a self-made man success story.
Bill was the youngest of 5 children (Robert, Dorothy, Lorraine, Jack, and Elmer aka the Bill you know) and grew up in Warsaw NY. He Lost his father when he was 19. He then entered the Army, which lead to jump school and the 82nd Airborne. Married Carol Mae Crandall at age 25 on December 21st 1963, and unfortunately lost his mother less than 4 years later at 29. During these life changing events with a wife and 2 girls, Bill worked jobs from a night security guard, painting houses, owning a mens clothing store, working for Fran Hirsch, and running the development corporation at Hirsch Homes, UNTIL he took a giant leap and started William Metrose Ltd. Builder/Developer In 1988 at the age of 50.
From the moment he incorporated, until the day he left this earth, he was a master of his craft.
He was willing to share his knowledge with a lot of people along the way. Bill would never define himself as a teacher, but he certainly was. I am living proof.
Those who knew him closely, know he loved to strategize life on a napkin over lunch, and pick up your tab if he saw you across the room.
His passion for construction was evident in building 700 homes, 700 relationships, 700 testaments of his success story.
And lastly, his favorite saying that he would constantly tease me with, “I forgot more than you will ever know”, will be with me forever. I will never forget you dad, no one will.
