331387 Mack and Cain, male Boxer and Pit Bull mix, 8 yrs (per owner). Mack is 54 lbs and Cain is 70 lbs. Both HW neg. This pair was surrendered by their owner who had become too elderly to care for them any longer. Notes say owner had both their entire lives. They haven't been around children, so likely need a placement where there are no kids. Both dogs were friendly with intake staff and friendly when I met them. Mack (Boxer mix) seems more outgoing and social. They were not concerned with the other dogs around the intake room-no reaction. They have been placed in kennel together here and we are hopeful we can find rescue for them together. Mack has a mass on his mouth that our vet will need to take a look at, and Cain seems to have some muscle wasting in his hips. Both good oldies looking for a place to relax.

UPDATE 1/25: Mack and Cain had their dentals done today. Poor Mack stopped breathing, but our wonderful vet staff was able to bring him back! He did not get his dental completed. Sidenote, our vet said the oral mass on Mack fell off some time ago. It can be seen in his original photo.

UPDATE 2/2: Cain and Mack got into an altercation resulting in a bite to Cains nose so we have had to separate them. We were going to look at adopting Cain out, and keeping Mack on rescue (because of dental) but while separated, both were very depressed and stopped eating. So they are back together hanging out in our front office. They should be considered URGENT and in need of rescue ASAP!

DOG TEST: Mack had a dog test with another oldie at the shelter. He was super excited and was wagging and play bowing. He really wanted to engage and was acting like a puppy with his play.
