Initially, tax on capital gains can be deferred until the disposal of the Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) investment or until 2026, whichever occurs first. Moreover, an investment maintained for five years qualifies for a 10% exclusion on the taxable gain, which increases to 15% after seven years. Note that these incentives expire after 2026.
