If I was your realtor, I would certainly advise you to walk away. There are items I see, just from this photo, that cannot be rectified at this point in the construction phase. ๏ฟผThe obvious one is the huge crack in the foundation. This is too extreme to be merely patched. The fact the builder basically said "Trust the process," is another red flag. This isn't a builder to trust. Don't walk from this build job. Run! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿš๏ธ

Was our decision to walk away from the purchase of a new construction home justified, considering the concerns we raised during our site visit? My wife and I were in the process of buying a new construction home that was framed and dried in. Prior to signing the contract, we walked the site and noticed several items that raised concerns, including a long crack in the foundation, sloppy apron flashing on the porch roof, and misaligned exterior OSB allowing water to enter. Notably, there were also issues with the downstairs tub drain, where the slab was broken for repairs, and the wrap was taped back in place. This issue was also observed in two other homes with the same floor plan. Although we understand that new constructions often have issues, we requested a walkthrough with the foreman before entering into a contract to address these concerns before making a non-refundable deposit of $30,000. However, the builder refused, stating that we needed to trust the process, that homes are built to code, and that they would conduct a walkthrough with us after we made the deposit. We declined and walked away. I am seeking validation that our decision was reasonable, given our desire for reassurance that these issues would be addressed before proceeding.
