Story time for throwback Thursday. This picture is from 1994 in my bowling heyday. The trophies I'm holding are from my junior bowling days on Saturday mornings at Don Carter's Sawgrass Lanes. My team and I placed either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to receive that trophy, and the other one is my 1st place trophy with the highest average in the league. I would consider myself a decent bowler back then. My junior days of bowling lasted 7 or 8 years before it was time to move up to the men's league and bowl for money instead of trophies. Looking back, I wish I could go back since it was a time to get together with your buddies, have some fun, and kick a little butt! I would like to thank a few people who made my childhood bowling days so great!
Thank you to Herb and Sheila Hyman for running our Saturday morning league! I'm sure it wasn't easy. Thanks again to Herb, Mike Stokes, and other coaches for their time and trying to make us better each week! Of course, my teammates, Lance, Tim, Pj, Jeremy, and others who kicked butt with me! I appreciate you all!
For the trophy picture, once again, my Dad sells childhood home, Mom saves all your trophies in the attic, and now I recently got to see them after so many years. Some are falling apart, of course, but they still look great! My plan was to throw them all away, but my heart and neighbors walking by seeing them told me to keep them still. One guy told me to start coaching and to show the proof that I was once a good bowler. Haha!
Couldn't have done it without my parent's support. From driving me to the bowling alley on Saturday mornings to driving wherever in the state for tournaments! Thank you, and I love you!
Here's to Thursdays where you look back to some of the best times of your life! Stay forever young, friends!
