There’s something special about spring in the North Country. The days are longer and warmer. The sun warms the air lifting our spirits after a long winter tucked inside. As you stroll the North Country roads you can’t help but notice the steam coming from sugar houses fills the air with a maple arouma. It brings back nostalgic memories from my childhood.

As NYS Maple Weekends approach (starting next weekend) many of the local sugar houses are hosting breakfasts this weekend and each weekend for the remainder of March! There are many large and small maple sugar operations in our area. For many it’s a family affair dating back several generations.

I wanted to share a link for the Healthy Neighborhoods Program that may be helpful for my Clinton County, NY followers!

This program is grant funded. You fill out a short survey online to request a visit and they will call to set up a time to meet with you at your home. They can help you equip your home with fire safety equipment such as smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and child safety items. You may even be eligible to have your water quality tested.
