This week’s album is a soulful, rhythmic, and incredibly deep collection that completely redefined modern house music. I wanted to highlight this record because even in 2026 it remains a staple for anyone who appreciates the art of the sample. We are talking about the brilliant compilation 2012 to 2017 by Against All Logic, which is of course the house music alias of the legendary Nicolas Jaar.

This project was such a massive moment when it dropped because it showed a completely different side of his production style. It moves away from his more experimental work and dives straight into warm, gritty, and soulful grooves that feel like they were unearthed from a vintage crate. On a personal note, if you are around my age, you remember these tracks popping up in underground sets and late night playlists right as we were finishing up school and getting into the real world. This album is a masterclass in soulful sampling and house production where every loop and texture is executed with unbelievable precision.

The tracks are iconic and instantly recognizable from the heavy vocal hooks on ‘Know You’ and the driving energy of ‘Cityfade’ to the deep atmospheric vibes of ‘Some Kind of Game’ and the closing intensity of ‘Rave on U.’ I would highly recommend everyone listen to this one from beginning to end to appreciate how it bridges the gap between classic soul and modern electronic music. This week’s album is a high octane and blistering pivot from one of the most prolific bands on the planet. I wanted to highlight this record because the energy for their 2026 tour and the Field of Vision festival is already reaching a breaking point. We are talking about the ferocious thrash metal masterpiece Infest the Rats Nest by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

This album was a massive departure because the band traded their usual psychedelic grooves for pure speed metal. It tells a dark story of environmental collapse which feels even more relevant today than when it first dropped. On a personal note, if you were around when this first hit the scene, you remember the absolute shock of hearing these guys go from jazzy flute solos to some of the heaviest riffs of the decade. This album is a masterclass in aggressive production and apocalyptic storytelling where every technical detail is executed with unbelievable precision.

The tracks are iconic and instantly recognizable from the urgent call to action on ‘Planet B’ and the social commentary of ‘Mars for the Rich’ to the absolute chaos of ‘Self Immolate’ and ‘Hell.’ I would highly recommend everyone listen to this all the way through to appreciate the technical skill on display. It is unquestionably a sonic achievement and the perfect record for when you need an extra jolt of energy or a focused drive. It is just an undeniable classic.

I’m really happy to announce another successful closing for some great clients. We actually first met at an open house over a year ago, and after they spent quite a while searching with another agent, they decided to reach out to me to help get their home search back on track. A big part of why they wanted to work together was my fluency in Cantonese, which made it much easier for them to feel confident and fully understand every step of the transaction. It’s always rewarding to step in and help people who have been hunting for a long time finally cross the finish line. We managed to find the right property and close the deal in less than three months once we reconnected. Huge congrats to the new homeowners on their big move.

This week’s album is a gritty, raw, and absolutely legendary piece of American music and I wanted to highlight it because it remains one of the greatest live recordings ever made. We are talking about the definitive outlaw record: At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash.

As you may or may not know, this session was a massive risk for Cash at the time but it ended up revitalizing his career and cementing his legacy. Recorded in 1968 in front of an audience of inmates, the energy is unlike anything else in music history. You can hear the clanging of cafeteria trays and the genuine reactions from the crowd which makes the whole thing feel incredibly real. It was a moment where the artist and the audience were completely in sync and that tension makes every second feel electric.

This album is phenomenal because it is a masterclass in storytelling and raw human connection. It is absolutely a listen in full album because the dialogue between the songs is just as important as the music itself. Cash speaks to the prisoners like equals and that mutual respect creates an atmosphere you just cannot replicate in a studio. The way the set flows from dark humor to deep heartbreak is executed with unbelievable precision.

The tracks are iconic and instantly recognizable, from the booming opening of ‘Folsom Prison Blues,’ the gritty narrative of ‘Cocaine Blues,’ to the rowdy energy of ‘Jackson.’ I would highly recommend everyone sit down and listen to the entire performance from start to finish to truly feel the weight of the moment. It is unquestionably a sonic achievement and a defining piece of history that hasn’t aged a day. The perfect time to listen to this album is when you want to hear that raw rebellious sound. It’s just an undeniable classic.
