It’s amazing and lucky that community ski areas have held on and continue to exist in 2026.

The nonprofit venues offer low- or no-cost opportunities for families to learn and ski together. Some noted Olympians, such as Mikaela Shiffrin, got their start on small slopes.

Annual re-post in honor of dad, who passed away 15 years ago on this date. We still feel his presence, even in his absence.
