New-home prices dropped in nearly a third of major U.S. cities as builders offered more concessions and downsized floorplans to offset weak demand.

"Even with recent slowdowns in starts and permits, builders continue to deliver new homes to the market at a healthy pace,” said Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale. “In many areas, these homes are not only available, they also offer better value compared to existing home inventories."

Home prices and mortgage rates aren't the only homeowner expenses going up these days. Property taxes are also on the rise.

Median property taxes in the U.S. rose by an average of 10.4% from 2021 to 2023 (the latest year of available data).

That means the average homeowner needs to fork over about $2,969 a year in property taxes, which is roughly an additional $247 per month.

Flipping houses depends on one key factor: making a solid profit. And while the market has cooled, it’s still working for many investors.

Here’s what the data shows:
🔹 In 2024, 297,885 single-family homes and condos were flipped across the U.S.
🔹 That’s a 7.7% drop from 2023 (322,782 flips)
🔹 And a 32.4% drop from the 2022 peak of nearly 441,000 flips

Even with fewer flips happening, profits remain strong in certain areas. In 10 specific states, the average profit was $112,321, showing that while flipping has slowed, it’s far from over.
