We have been spoiled by the interest rates being at around 3%. Currently they are at around 7% on a fixed rate. Did you know that one can buy the rate down permanently or do a 2-1 buydown where one's interest rate is 2% lower the first year and 1 % lower the second year, and the remaining 28 yrs at the mortgage's real rate. As much as the interest rate is higher, home prices are still going up as we have a housing shortage. Rents are also going up. If you sit on the sidelines and don't buy a home you are missing out on the appreciation that a home will bring you over time. Plus, you could also refinance in the future if rates really came down.
