This is an August 2012 photograph of some of the Plymouth Cordage Company buildings still standing in Plymouth, Massachusetts. They are abandoned and worn and many have been torn down. The Cordage Company was founded in 1824. It was one of the largest makers of rope and twine around the world. Once the large source of employment in the Town of Plymouth, Massachusetts in the 19th and part of the 20th centuries, the company was sold in 1965. Today, the main building is home to offices and a museum.
