COMING SOON: PHS partners with We Are Limitless Studios for downtown mural project
Downtown Pocomoke City will soon be a little bit brighter. Next week, artists will be installing what may be the first of several projects aimed at beautifying our town.
Pocomoke High School's grant-funded Artist in Residence program will be partnering with local artists from We Are Limitless Studios on the project. PHS Principal Jenifer Rayne shares details about the Artist in Residence program, "We have outside professional artists working with students on an installation of some kind, in the school or outside in the community."
Rayne adds, "This is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain exposure and skills with professionals, and in this case, a Pocomoke Alum, as well as impact their community in a positive way."
PHS art teacher Ms. Janet Cho and summer academy art students will be working directly with PHS alum Brandon Bell and his partner Deserea Martin, owners of We Are Limitless Studios. The studio has been responsible for numerous murals in the Salisbury region over the past five years. Of this mural, Bell writes, "The theme is imagination. I want my hometown to use their imaginations to transform their lives and the communities into something that all generations can be proud of."
The mural will be installed on the side of the presently vacant small white brick office at 113 Willow Street, some may remember as the WBOC Radio building. The building is currently owned by Arrowhead editor Chip Choquette and his wife Michele, who are excited at the opportunity to offer the space for public art.
Weather permitting, work on the mural is expected to be conducted the week of July 22nd from Monday through Wednesday. Find out more about We Are Limitless at https://www.wearelimitlessstudios.com/
