Michigan's Upper Peninsula celebrates (906) Day on 09/06 each year. Did you know that Bois Blanc Island is the ONLY part of the U.P. that does not use the (906) telephone area code for its land lines?

Our land lines come across from the lower peninsula, hence the (231) area code for BBI, even though we ARE part of Mackinac County and the U.P.

Fourth of July is a time of celebration, but this year’s holiday also marks the passing of someone I came to know and admire when I first became a licensed Real Estate Agent several years ago. As a friend, and as part of the Real Estate Board of which I’m a member, Roger always inspired and encouraged me. He knew I was working hard to build client relationships here on Bois Blanc, and he faithfully cheered me on from Cheboygan—where he made an indelible mark on the community over many years. Roger was a rare breed who set the bar high for the rest of us, by setting an example through his kindness, exuberance, professionalism, and passion for community service.

On this, the 250th birthday of our United States, I’ll celebrate by striving to be a little more like Roger. Thank you, dear friend, for the inspiration, encouragement, and smiles. You are deeply missed already.

My three boys are now three fine young men, working hard and building their own lives. I couldn’t be more proud, and on this Mother’s Day, I want to give a shout out to ALL my fellow moms. You have a ton to be proud of, and I see you!

I’ve also been proud to represent many moms and dads who want their BBI cottage and property to be a special family place for generations to come. That means the world to me, because it means so much to them.
