That puddle sitting on your roof is not “normal.”

One of the biggest misconceptions homeowners have about flat roofs is thinking water is supposed to sit there after it rains. It’s not. A properly designed roofing system should drain water, not collect it.

On this project in East Fort Lauderdale, we spotted a neighboring roof with major ponding water issues. In many cases, this happens long before the roofing material even goes on. The problem often starts with the structure underneath, when the roof wasn’t designed with the proper slope to move water off the system.

And here’s why that matters:
Standing water accelerates deterioration, adds unnecessary weight to the structure, and increases the risk of leaks over time.
