I took this picture this morning to match a similar picture we have from the ‘70’s. It wasn’t until I looked at it that I realized I had captured our company’s origin (as I’ve heard it) in the background. In 1932 southerner Frederick X. Conrad was surveying the power line seen on the hill in the back right of the photo for the power company. At the bottom of the hill he ran into the Mayor of the City of Port Jervis. The mayor, learning that Fred was also an Engineer, offered him the recently vacated position of City Engineer. The rest is history.
