Buying your first home in Hillsborough or Pasco? Two dates matter.

January 1: you need to own the home and live in it as your permanent residence.
March 1: the deadline to file for homestead exemption with your county property appraiser.

Homestead can take up to $50,000 off your home's assessed value and limits how much that value can rise each year after.

Want it for 2027? That means closing and moving in before this year ends. Your county property appraiser has the details for your situation.
